For some seniors, lifestyle changes alone may not be enough to manage cholesterol. In these cases, your doctor may prescribe medications like statins to help lower LDL cholesterol. It’s important to take your medications exactly as prescribed and discuss any side effects with your doctor.
- Regular Checkups
Regular visits to your primary care provider are essential for monitoring your cholesterol levels. Your doctor can perform blood tests to check your cholesterol levels and provide guidance on how to maintain healthy numbers. It’s especially important for seniors to stay on top of their cholesterol, as the risk of heart disease increases with age.
